Alaska

Composed of vastly different regions, climates and landscapes, Alaska is an adventurer’s paradise, offering long days for treks into wilderness that will fill even the most seasoned traveler’s heart with awe. Few places on earth are home to such a variety of wildlife including unique species of birds, black and grizzly bears, caribou, moose, mountain sheep and wolves. Huge glaciers, jagged mountain peaks, fields of wildflowers, pristine glacial lakes, and expansive views of the vast open tundra are just a few of the treasures waiting to be discovered through an Alaska expedition cruise or river trip. Experience nature by ship, raft or kayak as you venture deep into a world that only few get to see.

Alaska Rafting

Alaska provides by far the most remote wilderness rafting opportunities in the United States. Our favorite rivers are the Tatshenshini and Alsek in southern Alaska and the Kongakut in northern Alaska.

Small Ship Cruises

Small ship cruises allow travelers to see much of the coast of Alaska while also stopping for adventures. Popular cruises include the Inside Passage between Seattle and Alaska and Glacier Bay.

Rafting Toilets in Grand Canyon

January 4, 2023

One of our most commonly asked questions here at Rivers & Oceans is the inevitable “What is the bathroom situation when rafting the Grand Canyon?”. While we wish it was just as simple as plumbing pipes and flushable toilets, we’re here to talk about The Groover, which is the next best thing.

One of the more infamous rapids of the Grand Canyon is Crystal Rapid. It ranks between 7-10 on the Grand Canyon rapid scale depending on how high the river is flowing.
